We are living through the biggest technological revolution in history, in terms of its speed and scope. Virtual digital communications, artificial intelligence and enhanced data processing are transforming lives and livelihoods at a phenomenal pace. Massive advances in digital technology are bringing limitless data storage capacity, infinite access to information and knowledge, and speedy connection for people around the globe.

This technological revolution and the disruptions that come with it bring opportunities and challenges at the same time. But technological change has always created more winners than losers and today’s frontier technologies are creating exciting new opportunities, including for lower income countries. What we now need is sensible analysis of these new pathways and practical policy tools to navigate them.
