Pathways at the Annual Conference on Global Cyber Security

Pathways' academic director Stefan Dercon appeared on a panel at the Annual Conference for the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre in February 2019. The conference, held at Oxford University's Oxford Martin School, reflected back on the progress of global cybersecurity capacity building over recent years and also looked to the future. The conference explored questions such as: what are the emerging threats, what challenges will these create for nations in their abilities to deliver on cybersecurity, and what are the implications for capacity building?

Stefan Dercon appeared on a panel entitled 'Emerging threats and strategies'. It examined emerging threats related to changing technologies, trends in the use of cyberspace, and the challenges that nations and the international community need to address to deliver cybersecurity. New approaches that could help nations build cybersecurity capacity in the face of these threats were identified.

Other panellists at the session included: Dr Victoria Baines, Principal, Cartimandua Insight; Visiting Fellow, Bournemouth University School of Computing, Martin Clements, lately Director General Technology and Transformation, UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and Graham Wright CBE, Inmarsat.
