Digitization Key To Boosting Developing Economies, Says Report From Melinda Gates, Go-Jek Founder

Digital technology, according to a recent set of reports, provides ample opportunities for developing nations to improve their economic standing, but governments and corporate entities are currently failing to truly grasp the potential of such projects.

The two reports—funded by major donors such as Melinda Gates and exploring technology's role in changing developing countries' existing industries–were prepared through the Pathways for Prosperity Commission, a group of 12 entrepreneurs, government officials and civil society members who aim to shape the way countries adapt to new innovations that change workforce culture.

Southeast Asia is a prominent focus for the commission: Indonesia’s Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Go-Jek founder and CEO Nadiem Makarim helped shape the recommendations for advanced and emerging economies digging into the digital sector.
